CFD Modeling

All Hamon Research-Cottrell pollution control technologies must optimize both fluid flow characteristics and system pressure drops, therefore detail understanding fluid dynamics is a fundamental part of our experience.

Hamon Research-Cottrell maintains a core expertise in fluid dyamics as an intergral part of its business and operates a computational fluid dynamics laboratory to evaluate various flow and pressure drop aspects of its products and systems.

Our CFD capabilities are available to outside clients as well for evaluation of equipment and process issues related to flow distribution, flow quality and pressure drop, especially with regard to air pollution control technology.

Fluid Dynamics

Nearly all products sold by the Hamon group convey or treat a fluid media. Having a core competence in fluid flow is essential.

Our mission is to provide technical support to the Hamon group and our customers through innovative product / device design recommendations as related to fluid flow.

We have invented and developed several types of flow control devices that are successfully operating throughout the industrialized world including Dust-Free flow straightener, Arc-Plus turning vanes, Corrugate Perforate Plate, Vent-Flow stack anti-swirl vanes, Ungula injector/mixers, a compact seal air systems for Electrostatic Precipitators.

CFD Modeling

Experienced specialist and scientist apply finite volume and finite element software to model various parameters of air pollution control equipment including:

  • Thermal Mixing
  • Gas Species Concentration
  • Jet Dispersion & Spray Evaporation
  • Gas Flow Distribution
  • Gas Flow Swirl Angle
  • Pressure Loss
