Even the most adequately sized precipitator will lose performance if electrode cleanliness is not maintained. A fine balance exists between the cleaning of the electrodes and the ability to maintain precipitator performance levels. Rapping too little or at low intensity causes power to deteriorate. Rapping too frequently or at high intensity causes dust to be re-entrained or, in the case of too high an intensity, components may fail. In all of these instances, precipitator performance will deteriorate. The selection of the appropriate rappers is critical to the success of any precipitator installation and Hamon Research-Cottrell has been selecting rappers longer than any other OEM in the market today. A wide array of rappers is available through Hamon Research-Cottrell. We can analyze your process and precipitation requirements and deliver the appropriate rapper to meet your specific needs.

We can provide you with any of the following rapping needs:

MIGI Flange Mounted Rapper

The Magnetic Impulse Gravity Impact rapper, developed and patented in the 1950's by Research-Cottrell, has become the most widely used rapper for cleaning the collecting plates and discharge electrodes of electrostatic precipitators. Many have copied the MIGI rapper, but few have duplicated the...

Electromagnetic Vibrator

While the MIGI rapper can deliver a one-two punch to clean your collecting plates and discharge electrodes, it may not be the appropriate choice for all discharge electrode systems. Ceramic insulators support the discharge electrode systems of all electrostatic precipitators and some precipitator...

Pneumatic Rapper

Pneumatic rappers are good general-purpose rappers that can deliver strong shearing forces to collecting plates. Pneumatic rapper intensity can also be easily regulated through adjustments in the air pressure to provide the delicate force need to clean the most fragile of discharge electrode...
