High voltage support insulators mechanically support and electrically isolate the discharge electrodes from the grounded
ESP casing and collecting curtains. Support insulators are designed for high compressive strength to support the loads
imposed by the high voltage electrodes and associated framing. Providing the primary application point for high voltage
and located in close proximity to the gas stream, high voltage support insulator design must also consider the voltage
applied and operating environment.
Hamon Research-Cottrell can supply your requirements for standard cylindrical support insulators, double post insulators
and "bigfoot" support insulators (i.e. conically shaped insulator with a wide base for use with extremely high voltage,
wide collector plate spacing, applications). Insulators are available in porcelain and various grades of alumina, based
on application requirements.
In addition to our standard line of support insulators, Hamon Research-Cottrell can also supply split cylindrical insulators
to positively seal penetrations associated with older double post support designs. The split insulator is an ideal solution
when positive sealing is needed following process design changes that result in changes of operating pressure that adversely
affect precipitator subsystems such as the insulator compartment ventilation system.
